Newcastle have registered an interest in Swansea star Daniel James according to the Chronicle – who claim the exciting winger could be available for just £10m this summer.
James has been Swansea’s star player this season and is believed to have caught the eye of both Man Utd and Arsenal, however ‘sources in Wales’ claim both ourselves and Bournemouth have showed concrete interest.
While James isn’t yet proven, the 21-year-old has looked an electric talent at times this season, bagging 5 goals and 10 assists over the 2018/19 season and possessing frightening pace and energy out wide.
Some may also remember him for scoring this stunning solo goal in Swansea’s 4-1 FA Cup win over Brentford:
Something that could work in our favour here is the fact James just has one year left on his current deal at the Liberty Stadium – and the Swans may be forced to cash in given they’ve failed to gain automatic promotion back to the Premier League and may need to balance the books.
It would be risky business if James was brought in as a replacement for Ayoze Perez, but with Kennedy heading back to Chelsea, the Chronicle suggest we could be looking to sign TWO wingers this summer – and we’d have a hugely exciting talent on our hands if James arrived.
