According to the Evening Standard, Newcastle United are interested in Olympiakos star Mady Camara.
The report claims that Watford are also ‘weighing up’ a move for the £12m-rated midfielder, stating he is keen to join a Premier League side this summer.
He fits the bill in terms of age and price tag, not forgetting the fact this is NOT the first time we’ve been credited with an interest.
It was confirmed in October that he’d left Newcastle scouts ‘impressed’ in Europa League action earlier this season, with us also travelling to watch the midfielder during Olympiakos’ win over AC Milan in December:
The Evening Standard suggest that Watford are weighing up a bid for the £12m-rated 22-year-old, however they insist he’s unlikely to make any decision before this summer’s Africa Cup of Nations, with him set to feature for Guinea.
A defensive midfielder or two will be needed this summer with Isaac Hayden and Mo Diame looking likely to leave, and it sounds like Camara may be one of our options.
Here’s him in action, with a clip of his one and only goal for Olympiakos this season – and it’s a stunner!
