Speaking at his press conference today, Rafa Benitez has confirmed that Ki Sung-yeung will miss Sunday’s game at Fulham after suffering a knee injury.
Rafa has states that it’s ‘not serious’, but that he will join Yedlin, Almiron, Lejeune and Longstaff on the sidelines for Sunday’s final-day trip to Fulham this weekend.
Here’s what the gaffer had to say on the injury front, confirming that Ki is one of 5 players that will miss out:
“We have Ki with a problem in his knee. It’s not serious, but we won’t take any risks with him.
“We have the same problems with Almiron, Lejeune, Longstaff and Yedlin.”
With this in mind, the team on Sunday seems fairly straightforward to predict.
Shelvey now looks very likely to replace Ki – and it might be his last game for the club if we do cash in on him this summer – while Manquillo will continue at right wing-back now Yedlin’s been ruled out once again.
Predicted line-up (3-4-2-1): Dubravka – Schar, Lascelles, Dummett – Manquillo, Hayden, Shelvey, Ritchie – Perez, Atsu – Rondon.
