NUFC ‘line up’ £7m move for Everton outcast – Dubious report

According to the Sun, Newcastle are lining up a summer move for Yannick Bolasie – with the Toffees set to demand just £7m for the winger.

Another winger or two will be needed this summer, with Kenedy heading back to Chelsea, Murphy not looking up to much and Ritchie recently moving to wing-back, however I have my doubts about this one.

Bolasie arrived at Everton for £25m three years ago and seemed an electric talent at one stage, but injuries and a resultant loss of form have seen his career decline in recent seasons.

He’s now 29 and is likely to be on big wages at Everton, so although a £7m move would seem like a potential bargain if Benitez got his career back on track, it’s a move I don’t see Mike Ashley sanctioning.

Rafa may just convince Mike to sign Rondon for £16.5m and hand an ageing Matt Ritchie a new deal, but I don’t quite see us bringing in an injury prone, out of sorts winger; even for £7m.

The former Palace winger spent the first half of the 2018/19 season on loan at Villa – scoring twice in 21 appearances – and then went on to score 4 goals in 7 league starts for Anderlecht after securing a January loan move to the Belgian giants.

  1. I’d prefer Victor Moses from Chelsea who is still only 28 and would probably cost fractionally more than that.

    Good shout.

I actually thought about him recently, thinking he could well be a good option at wing-back given how well he did there for Chelsea under Conte.

Olly – he would be out right sided Ritchie. Either could cover that wing back role and both can do a good job further up. I think he’d give a good balance.

    Agreed.

He’s getting on but younger than Bolasie as you say and better record with injuries.

Could be one to watch as he has decent pedigree, is a hard worker, versatile and should be available this summer – not to mention Rafa has great links with Chelsea.

Just realised he signed a 18-month loan deal with Fenerbahce in January – so he’ll be in Turkey until next summer!
