NUFC talent set for Championship move after impressive season – Two clubs keen

Newcastle United talent Dan Barlaser is attracting interest from Championship duo Wigan and Preston following an impressive loan spell with Accrington Stanley last season.

This comes from the Chronicle, who claim the Latics are readying a loan move for the 22-year-old, with manager Paul Cook believed to be a big fan of the midfielder.

With Barlaser’s contract being set to expire next summer, Lee Ryder claims that the club could extend his current deal before sending him out on loan to the Championship.

He always stood out when I went along to watch him in action for our second string, showing real quality on the ball and an impressive range of passing, but a stint in the second tier seems essential at this stage of his career if he’s ever going to make it at senior level at Newcastle.

I watched him once or twice for Accrington last season – with him looking particularly good in their FA Cup defeat to Derby before seeing red.

In what could be a make or break season for the lad, let’s hope he can get plenty game time and continue to impress if he does end up spending next season with Wigan.
