NUFC ‘very interested’ in Ivory Coast international – £13m asking price – Report

According to reports in Italy, Newcastle have shown ‘concrete interest’ in a potential deal for Udinese midfielder Seko Fofana.

This comes from Italian outlet Calciomercato.it, who also claim that the Ivory Coast international is valued at £13m – and also being tracked by Napoli and Sevilla.

It remains to be seen who will be in charge this summer – both at boardroom and dressing room level – but it goes without saying that Rafa Benitez will still be looking for potential deals, just incase he does agree to sign the contract offer on the table from Mike Ashley.

As highlighted below, Calcimercato claim we’re ‘very interested’ in the 24-year-old – although it seems any move will have to wait until Rafa’s future is sorted.

Fofana is a holding midfielder who has impressed in Serie A over the past few seasons, with the former Manchester City youngster joining Udinese for £3.5m in the summer of 2016.

He stands 6ft tall and has bagged 10 goals and 5 assists from central midfield over the past three seasons in Italy.

Here’s him in action:

  1. Looks to be off target a lot with his shots, wouldn’t get the time on the ball to do all that dribbling and a fair few of those passes the video cut out as the opposing player was about to beat his team mate to the ball. May still be a good buy but didn’t look like anyone worth getting excited about
