Dutch journalist tells Sky Sports that NUFC are now interested in Ajax star

According to Dutch reporter Marcel van der Kraan, Newcastle have sent scouts to watch Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek a ‘number of times’.

The 22-year-old has had a stunning season in Holland, helping Ajax to the Eredivisie title and the Champions League semi-finals with 17 goals and 13 assists in 57 games.

It sounds like we aren’t the only top flight side looking at him however, with van der Kraan claiming that Man United, Liverpool, Spurs and Everton have also watched the attacking midfielder over the past year:

Here’s what Dutch correspondent Marcel van der Kraan has told Sky Sports when discussing a potential move to England for van de Beek:

I have seen scouts from Tottenham, Man United, Everton, Liverpool and Newcastle at Ajax Amsterdam Arena watching him a number of times”

He looked high energy and highly quality when I’ve watched Ajax in the Champions League over the past few months, however his price tag is likely to be big given how good he’s been over the past season.

This is one that looks highly unlikely without a takeover, and, even if new owners arrive, it sounds like we could face competition from some of the league’s big six.
