Mourinho speaks out after NUFC rumours – A blow for the Bin Zayed Group?

Jose Mourinho has spoke out about his future for the first time since being linked with a move to St James’ Park – and his comments suggest he does NOT have his eye on the Newcastle United job.

It had been reported by several outlets that Sheikh Khaled’s first choice target was the former Man Utd and Chelsea boss should the Bin Zayed Group complete a takeover, however Jose admits today that he wants to compete in ‘new competitions’ – with him also eyeing a roll in international football.

Here’s what he’s had to say today when speaking to Eleven Sports:

“I want to compete in new competitions.

“I think about the World Cup and the European Championships.

“For a long time I have had the desire to try out such an adventure. Right now, I see myself more at a national team than with a new club.

“Is Portugal the right team for me? Not necessarily.

“Winning a fifth championship in a different country or the Champions League with a third club are things I’d like to do.

“I wouldn’t do it just for that. I only go where a project convinces me.”

I’ll always have a soft spot for Mourinho following his relationship with Sir Bobby and the appreciation he seems to have for Newcastle United fans, St James’ Park and the club itself, however I would pick Rafa over Jose every day of the week.

Mourinho at Newcastle under new owners has the potential to be brilliant, but if big money and ambition is going to finally arrive on Tyneside, it’s Rafa Benitez who deserves the chance to take us forward.

He’s building something here and has often said how much he’d love to stay for 10 years and create a real ‘project’, where as Mourinho has rarely stuck around for more than 2 years in his most recent jobs.

  1. He’s after the Belgium job if Roberto Martinez goes back to club football.

Can’t say I’m disappointed, didn’t really want him at NUFC – especially not ahead of Rafa

  2. Sadly raffa will be gone fat boy will still be there rubbing his greedy trotters together with the thought of more tv money but what if a pitch invasion before kickoff on tv first game of season that would make tv companies think twice about putting cameras there again hitting chubby in the pocket and showing the world what a ****** he is
