TalkSPORT ‘pundit’ makes ridiculous claim about Rafa & NUFC fans – ‘they’d never forgive him’

Speaking on talkSPORT, Steve Harmison has claimed that Newcastle fans would “never forgive” Rafa Benitez if he walked away from the club when his contract expires on June 30th.

While I do agree with that Steve’s stance on this big-money offer from China (see clip below), he couldn’t be more wrong about how us fans would react should Rafa walk and seems pretty clueless about the whole situation.

It’s absolutely ridiculous to suggest we’d not ‘forgive’ a man who’s been one of the few people who have refused to give up on this club over the years.

Here’s what Harmison’s had to say live on talkSPORT earlier today:

“If he leaves Newcastle with four or five days to go until pre-season, with no transfer targets, they would never forgive Ashley, but they would never forgive Rafa as well.”

What Steve should have said is this – ‘If Rafa leaves Newcastle four days before pre-season, they’d thanks Benitez for his efforts but never ever forgive Mike Ashley.’

Now THAT better represents the current situation and the thoughts of Newcastle fans should the worst happen in 9 days time.

Absolute rubbish from Harmison, who seems so out of touch with both supporters and the current situation Benitez is dealing with here.

  1. Actually he does have a point, I believe that he has stayed silent due to the takeover situation and that he is fully in the loop, if however this is not the case and he does not know what is going on and was just to walk away on the 30th with no explanation then they will be a lot of resentment, however I don’t believe he would do this hence the reason I believe the takeover is real. Rafa is to much of a planner, there is no way he would put up with not doing anything and running down his contract, my bet is he has at least one plan and is already working on it.

It’s just the comment about us ‘never forgiving’ him if he left..

  3. If rafa went I know most if not all nufc fans would be devastated but would totally understand. He has worked wonders with this squad. We know he loves the club and fans and that he wants to be able to take us forward. However his hands have been tied budget wise. If he has to go due to lack of ownership support I and other nufc fans will I am sure like to thank him for his efforts.

Steve Harmison is wrong, wrong, wrong, every sensible fan would blame Ashley, the reason Benitez has run his contract down is (in my opinion) to give Ashley one final chance, no take over, no decent funds, no Benitez.

  6. The FAT BASTSRD ASHLEY HAS DONE ABSOLUTELY **** ALL TO KEEP RAFA AT OUR CLUB.
RAFA HAS DONE ALL HE CAN FOR THE CLUB UNDER THE DISGUSTING ARSEHOLE ASHLEY.

WE SHOULD ALL THANK HIM FOR EVERYTHING HE HAS DONE FOR OUR CLUB , SADLY WE WILL HAVE TO WISH HIM WELL AT WHATEVER CLUB HE GOES ON TO MANAGER.

BUT ONCE HE LEAVES THERE SHOULD BE AN EMPTY STADIUM AT EVERY HOME GAME FROM THE START OF NEXT SEASON. DO NOT BUY ANY OF THE **** ON SALE THAT HAS THE FAT BASTARDS GRUBBY MITS ON IT.
