Disgraceful reports reveal Mike Ashley’s final insult to Rafa Benitez – This sums him up..

As revealed by several reporters, Rafa Benitez was given “no prior warning” that a statement would be made confirming his NUFC exit – with some claiming that the Spaniard only found out after a ‘good friend’ told him it was on Sky News.

This really does sum up Mike Ashley’s Newcastle United to a tee. A total lack of communication, classless and completely disrespectful.

While it was reported that Rafa Benitez was highly likely to leave prior to today’s announcement, this is now way to treat any member of staff – never mind a world class manager who has worked wonders over the past three years.

Here’s what George Caulkin’s had to say on Twitter, revealing that Ashley didn’t even have the decency to warn Rafa Benitez ahead of club’s Monday lunchtime statement:

“The sadness is that Newcastle had something profound in their grip, but never truly appreciated what Benitez meant: better. And, a minor, telling detail … I’m told Rafa was given no prior warning today’s statement was coming”

For what it’s worth, this lack of warning for Benitez has also been claimed by David Coverdale and Steve Wraith, with the latter saying the Spaniard was only made aware of it after a ‘good friend’ rang him to say it was all over Sky news:

What a complete and utter shambles – although I can’t help but wonder if this was Mike Ashley’s plan all along, with him making next to no effort to keep Benitez at the club.
