Devastating stories emerge as NUFC fans say ‘enough is enough’ – Time for a takeover, Mike..

It may feel like Groundhog Day to hear Newcastle fans are fed up and about to cancel their season tickets, but Monday’s announcement really may have been the moment Mike Ashley lost thousands of Toon fans for good.

Confirmation that Rafa Benitez was leaving the club yesterday was a crushing blow and the moment we all lost hope – and, as a result, several fans have taken to Twitter to reveal just why they’ve decided to call it a day.

Here’s some of the devastating responses to the Magpie Group’s tweet below, with many long-term season ticket holders and ‘die-hard supporters’ admitting enough is enough after Mike Ashley’s unforgivable mistake.

“Been going for nearly 25 years. Myself and my three pals will not renew unless there is a takeover. It’s incredible how Ashley can make you turn your back on something that is so important to you. #Ashleyout#nufc

“I now live in the Midlands but have been travelling ‘home’ every other weekend to watch the footy and share priceless moments with my dad and brother at SJP. It’s quality time with family & my biggest passion, but we’re all walking away if there’s no takeover. Gutted. #AshleyOUT

“18 June 2013 – NUFC confirmed the return of Joe Kinnear. 19 June 2013 – I cancelled season ticket after 21 years. To everyone considering it, I can say it gets easier. Though Rafa tempted me back I’m now very pleased the club haven’t had a penny off me since 2013.”

“Been going over 30yrs. Season ticket holder for most of that time. Fed up with the blatant disregard for fans and managers. No ambition and downright lies. Totally gutted to be cancelling, but enough is enough!”

“Dad, bro and son have cancelled , had them since 2010 (well 2 of them at least) whole club is rotten to the core, look how dirty the stadium is as an example of how its ran! it is no longer our football club”

Season ticket holder since 1990. I will only renew and attend if there is a change of owner. This is my choice as I just can’t stomach the lack of ambition and it’s going to kill me. Looking like away matches might be on the cards again. Not One More Penny!”

“38 years a ST holder .It’s not just the money it sends the message that enough is enough . We need to UNITE as a fan base to drive the FCB out of our club “

“200+ loyalty points and travel up from London for home games. Heartbroken by the loss of @rafabenitezweb – filled me with pride everytime I saw/heard him interviewed. Seriously considering walking away now. Fulham (a) was perfect, and it feels horrendous to have that taken away.”

“I was a season ticket holder for 33 years and have just cancelled. Ashley has destroyed the enjoyment and ‘hope’ of being a Newcastle fan. Won’t be back while he is still owner.”

“30 years and cancelled this season. It’s not NUFC anymore, it’s a complete sham and I’m not prepared to endorse it by paying my money to MA. As soon as he gone I may be back. Fans need to either put up or shut up, either pay and endorse him or grow a pair!”

“27 years season ticket holder. Unfortunately my direct debit for next years season ticket went out in March. I won’t be going though and won’t be renewing again until he’s gone.”

Saturday’s at St James’ Park are our biggest hobby, our passion and a place that is the life and soul of this city to so many, but there’s only so long we can give money to a man who gives nothing back to us.

As Keegan once said, “The club can never go anywhere under Mike Ashley“. It’s time for us to take action, together. Enough is enough.

  1. Yes we can renew season ticket and carry on as we have always done
Run and you’ll live — at least a while. And dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance to come back here and tell Mike Ashley that he may take our Club but they’ll never take our freedom!!!

  3. Be positive the takeover is going to happen, renew the Season Tickets after he goes, keep the chins up all will be well, it’s not about managers they come and go when it suits them. The main thing was always to get rid of Ashley first, if the new owners want to bring him back fine if not, he will go his own way and we go ours, we need to wait for another week or so that’s all. 4. As an expat in the USA I travel to Newcastle annually to get my fix of watching a home game. Not any more until the FCB sells up. I have NBC sports and I am fortunate to be able to watch any PL game live, 3 one after the other on Saturdays. I was very despondent at the begining of the season and chose to watch other games rather than the Toon, you know teams with ambition like Wolves! As things stand, at 65 yrs old, I may not visit St. James again as Ashley will never leave unless we do a Sunderland and has destroyed our club.

  5. Would rather support a non league nufc that any nufc under the fat one..away games only not a penny to chubby..sorry boys if it seems like lack of support but rafa going is final straw

  6. Local toon fans, team is gonna fall apart anyway, you have to boycott SJP and his tacky shops, don’t line FCBs pockets anymore, takeover will take a while yet which is why RAFA couldn’t take even one year extension under MA in the hope new owners would offer a decent contract.

Perfect Wording He Will Have To Leave When There’s No One In The Stadium To Line His Pockets

  8. It will all be forgotten when either Ashley comes in with another mega, well known, accomplished manager, or the takeover goes through.
