Five NUFC stars now “open to offers” following Rafa Benitez’s exit – Report

According to the Sun’s north-east reporter David Coverdale, Ayoze Perez, Fabian Schar, Martin Dubravka, Federico Fernandez and Isaac Hayden are all ‘open to offers’ following Rafa Benitez’s exit.

Whether this is true or not is almost irrelevant, with it inevitable that several of our star players will be doubting their futures at the club after Rafa’s devastating departure.

Here’s a snippet from David Coverdale’s latest piece for the Sun, with him naming SIX players who are reportedly open to leaving as a result of Monday’s crushing announcement from the club:

AYOZE PEREZ is one of several stars doubting their Newcastle future after Rafa Benitez’s exit.

Defender Federico Fernandez criticised the club’s handling of Benitez’s contract saga and is now open to offers.

While sought-after centre-half Fabian Schar and keeper Martin Dubravka would also listen to an approach.

Midfielder Isaac Hayden wants to leave for family reasons.

But it is the prospect of Perez, 25, going which Toon chiefs fear the most — with the striker having admitted a lot depended on what happened with Benitez.

Benitez no doubt played a big part in convincing Perez to stay over the past few windows, while the likes of Schar and Dubravka may have rejected any offers this summer had he stayed, believing that the club could go somewhere under Benitez’s guidance. Now though, who could blame them for questioning the club’s ambition and considering their futures.

I believe Hayden and Perez were set on leaving this summer regardless of Rafa, but a mass exodus is likely if there’s no takeover or an uninspiring appointment should Ashley stay.

Coverdale’s piece claims that *some* players had ‘grown tired’ of Rafa’s ‘training and tactics’, but I imagine this will only be the fringe players who just weren’t cut out to play under such a meticulous manager.

The likes of Lazaar, Aarons, Murphy, Colback and co. may fall under that bracket, with them likely to be given a second chance at the club should a new manager hand everyone a clean slate – not that this will inspire any of us ahead of the new season.

  1. Scaremongering again, where do these stories come from, all made up because of nothing of any substance to write about, pathetic.

It wasn’t long ago a lot of the fans were on the Perez case anyway, there was talk of him possibly going before the Rafa saga, Hayden has wanted to leave for over a year now, but you bring this as its because of Rafa leaving? Because the other players have wished the outgoing manager best of luck they obviously now want to leave, where to? HWTL
