Mike Ashley’s impossible negotiating stance scuppering a takeover?

I do not believe there is a Newcastle fan out there with optimism for the immediate future of the club.

For three years Rafa Benitez has steadied the ship and dramatically reduced the pain for Mike Ashley. There is no doubt Rafa wanted to stay at almost any cost. I say almost any, he needed modestest backing from the owner, an owner who was never going to budge.

I for one am pleased Rafa has departed company with Ashley because it is only now Mike Ashley will appreciate what he had.

As for the sale, it’s a farce, only possible at one club.. In Rafa’s three years in charge, the club has rarely been able to deliver any of his top player targets, because of their apparent impossible negotiating stance.

No doubt it’s the same stance being taken to negotiate the sale of the club. On that basis you would never have the slightest optimism for the sale or future under Mike Ashley.o matter who the next manager is, they will be faced with the same restraints and they most certainly won’t have a C.V. like that of Mr. Benitez.

But if as looks likely, there will be no sale, no player investment and no Rafa Benitez, Mr Ashley is in for a difficult 12 months.

Yes there will be continued unrest from fans, but the turmoil is sure to bring another season of struggle, where his suggested £350m valuation of the club becomes merely a pipe dream.

  1. Fat man will be trying the same trick as Rangers. Keeping the Commercial deals which left the club with 7p in the £. The other 93p going to Ashley. for 7 years Maybe the takeover is stumbling as that makes the eventual cost about £750 million.

  2. Maybe fans should start a new team in the city NUFC Phoenix or something similar. Fan owned for local players and then let Mike Ashley’s business rot at the ground. He probably try put flats on it anyway in a few years and ground share with Sunderland or something even dumber. Better than 12 more years with mike arsesely.

  4. Rafa did an OK job, but this god like status he was given is just bizarre.

He kept us in the PL by playing a brand of football that was dull to watch and the excuse he didn’t have the players, who created that impression, it was Rafa himself he was always banging on about his poor squad, hardly inspiring to hear if you were part of that squad.

Maybe a new manager will let the leash of the players and allow them to go over halfway of their own accord rather than only counter attacking !!!

Not a fan of Ashley but Rafa was playing games as well, with his demands, he knew he wouldn’t get them all so created an exit route for himself.

I know the hordes won’t like this viewpoint but I’m only giving my opinion as a frustrated Newcastle supporter watching a team with limited ambition (Rafa included with his Cup teams, we could have had a real go at them, only Rafa chose not to).

Anyways as I say just my opinion, will await developments on takeover and new manager and see what happens.
