Ex-Sunderland star “could be heading to Newcastle United” – Dubious Report

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, former Sunderland star Fabio Borini ‘could be headed for Newcastle United’ this summer.

The report claims that AC Milan are looking to move him on – with him currently earning €2.5m per-year – and state that both ourselves and Bordeaux have made enquiries.

I struggle to believe this one given his age (28) and the fact he’s bagged just 8 goals and 6 assists from out wide over the past two season in Italy, but I would put nothing past this club based on the shambolic summer we’ve had so far.

The Italian international has a eye-catching CV on the face of it, having played for Chelsea, Roma, Liverpool and AC Milan, but his goal record is anything but impressive.

He’s scored just 16 goals in 111 Premier League appearances and would be an absolutely shambolic replacement for Ayoze Perez should this rumour be true.

As I’ve said, I struggle to believe this one and feel even Mike Ashley wouldn’t dare replace our top scorer with a former Mackem, but this is a man who sold Andy Carroll for £35m and ‘replaced’ him with Shefki Kuqi on a free.

  1. Same old rubbish different day. Don’t write an article then state it’s dubious, makes you look amateurish.
