Rafa Benitez plans to lure ex-NUFC star to Dalian Yifang – Report

According to the Daily Mail, Rafa Benitez is planning a surprise move to bring former Newcastle striker Salomon Rondon to China.

This comes after the Spaniard’s big money move to Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang, with his £12m-per-year contract meaning they’d no doubt be willing to give Rondon a lucrative offer.

As we all know, the Venezuelan has just come off the back of a brilliant 12 goal, 7 assist season at St James’ Park, however his £16.5m clause at West Brom is yet to be activated.

Ourselves (while Rafa was around!), Wolves and West Ham have all been strongly linked, while Fenerbahce and Marseille have also shown alleged interest, however he is still at the Hawthorns almost two months on from his final appearance for NUFC.

The Daily Mail claim that Albion can’t afford the 29-year-old’s wage packet and are hoping to strike a deal with Dalian Yifang – believing their financial muscle gives them power over fellow suitors West Ham and Newcastle.
