NUFC have ‘deal in place’ to sign new striker as club announce Joselu exit

Joselu has completed a move away from Newcastle United, with the club confirming that the Spaniard has now joined Alaves on a three-year deal.

A statement on NUFC.co.uk says that the 29-year-old has joined the La Liga side for an ‘undisclosed fee’, however the Chronicle have since claimed that we’re set to receive £2.5m for the striker.

His exit leaves us with just ONE out and out senior striker at the club (Gayle), however it is also being reported today that we have a ‘deal in place’ to sign Hoffenheim striker Joelinton.

Here’s a snippet from Luke Edwards’ latest piece for the Telegraph, with him claiming that we have a deal lined up to sign the Brazilian:

‘Newcastle have a deal in place to sign Brazilian striker Joelinton from Hoffenheim, but the need to have a manager in place is growing more urgent by the day as they also need him to give the green light to that transfer.

Bruce is already aware of the names who have been scouted to arrive this summer and he will have to move rapidly to finalise their shortlist.

Could it be one out and one in at NUFC? It would make sense given our worrying lack of striking options, but I’ll believe it when I see it regarding a £30m+ move for Joelinton.

The Telegraph aren’t the only ones reporting this, with the Daily Mail and Chronicle also tipping us to sign the 22-year-old, however this can only be the start of our summer business given our squad is severely lacking with just 24 days of the transfer window remaining.

As far as Joselu is concerned, we’d like to wish him all the best. He was never good enough to play at this level, but he seemed a good bloke who always gave it his all.
