The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards has cast doubt over claims Steve Bruce has ‘resigned’ at Sheffield Wednesday – but believes he’s still ‘almost certain’ to become the new Newcastle manager.
With this in mind, he’s suggested that the biggest issue now facing Newcastle United is our ability to get moving on the transfer front – with him believing we will ‘definitely’ go down without new signings.
As he states below, he believes Bruce will ‘almost certainly’ arrive at Newcastle – whether he’s resigned or not – so places the emphasis on transfers given we have just 24 days left to do business:
He’s probably hit the nail on the head here in many respects. Whether it ends amicably or ugly at Sheffield Wednesday, it feels like Bruce is going to get his move to Tyneside one way or another.
With that worrying thought in mind, it is time we got moving with transfers.
The current squad has been stripped of our two top scorers (Rondon and Perez) and with Bruce in charge, we’ll have to bring in several new signings to give us any chance of staying up.
After all, we won’t have miracle worker Rafa Benitez to help us out this time!
