‘NUFC sources’ respond to claims Bruno Genesio is set to sign 4-year-deal St James’ Park

The Press Association’s Damian Spellman has told Newcastle fans ‘not to get carried away’ by sudden claims Bruno Genesio is set to sign a four-year-deal at Newcastle United.

The Chronicle have also denied these claims from France, stating “NUFC sources have now dismissed the report from France about Bruno Genesio.

This comes after French outlet Le Progres not only claimed that ex-Lyon boss was set to sign a four-year deal at Newcastle, but also stated that the club are ‘on the verge’ of being sold to a Dubai billionaire.

Sadly, however, it looks like this is a load of rubbish, with trusted PA reporter Damian Spellman stating that several sources close to him have no played down these claims:

They are not the only one to rubbish these claims either, with the Daily Star’s Aaron Stokes also rejecting these reports after speaking to a ‘French source’ with ties to ex-Lyon boss Bruno Genesio:

Was this a Mike Ashley PR stunt to get Sheffield Wednesday to reduce their demands – or was this simply an outrageous pile of nonsense created to sell papers in France?

Either way, it really is the hope that kills you. Back to Bruce we go..

  1. If Bruce is the “last man standing” and MA has paid Owls for him, Bruce is in a very powerful position. He can announce he is here to win, not just survive. He can openly demand players or cash to buy. He can walk out if MA does not comply. It seems the only way he can save face compared to what is being described as his role to “just get by”.

  2. Who are these two sources that I’ve never heard from or read anything from this summer, but are NUFC sources now.

Really not sure how to respond to that mate.

    A) We can’t really avoid reporting on such huge claims from France. Obviously so frustrating that they’ve been denied, but we can’t just ignore every claim we think might be false

    B) We’re not purposefully winding up fans. These articles are written by NUFC fans, so it’s just as infuriating for us – especially when we’re the ones writing them (only to find out 20 mins later it’s been denied).

    C) “Get a life” ? – Again, we’re NUFC fans and it’s our job to write about all things NUFC and have our say on it. Sadly, we don’t know and can’t control whether what’s being reported in the media turns out to be true or false.
