Salomon Rondon passes medical ahead of £16.5m move from West Brom – Sky Sports

According to Sky Sports, Salomon Rondon has now completed his medical ahead of a £16.5m move to Dalian Yifang – a deal that will see him reunited with Rafa Benitez.

If you’d told me a few months ago that Rondon was all set to be reunited with Rafa Benitez I would’ve had a huge grin on my face.

Aside from a potential takeover, keeping Benitez and re-signing Rondon on a permanent deal were the two key things I was hoping for this summer – but to reality of what’s unfolded at St James’ Park over the past few months has been far from that.

Now, the 29-year-old looks set to seal a move to China, with Dalian Yifang now poised to sign him after he passed a medical today:

Mike Ashley is a strange creature who seems obsessed with a players age and sell on value, but the fact he’ll happily pay £36m for an unproven Bundesliga talent and refuse to sign our player of the season for £16.5m is pretty baffling.

He was absolutely outstanding last season, with us 12 goals, 7 assists, incredible work rate and exemplary all round play being a huge part of our surge to safety.

All the best in China, big man.
