Sky Sports reveal TWO players NUFC are keen to sign after Joelinton arrives
According to Sky Sports' Kaveh Solkehol, Newcastle are interested in Mainz striker Jean-Philippe Mateta & Genk goal-machine Mbwana Samatta.
He states that the club are keen to sign another striker once Joelinton's arrival is confirmed, and says he's been told that Mateta and Samatta are two players on our transfer 'shortlist'.
Mateta has been linked with a potential move to St James' Park on a few occasions over the past few months. He's a 6ft 3' French U-21 international and has bagged 14 league goals for Mainz in the Bundesliga last season.
As for Samatta, the 26-year-old has been in stunning form in Belgium over the past 12 months, bagging 32 goals and 6 assists for Genk across the 2018/19 season.
On the subject of Joelinton, the Sky Sports reporter suggested that the Brazilian's move from Hoffenheim could be announced at the start of next week, with it being claimed in Germany that his 'imminent' move been delayed slightly as the club want to combine his unveiling with the official release of our new 2019/20 away kit.
Either way, it's absolutely essential that we sign another forward as well as Joelinton.
He may be a huge talent and a club record arrival, but we have lost 55% of our goals from last season in Rondon and Perez, meaning the likes of Joelinton and Almiron will need some extra help in attack.
