NUFC plan to announce the signing of Joelinton & TWO others in next 48 hours - Martin Hardy
According to Martin Hardy, Newcastle are expecting to announce the signing of 'two or three new players' by the 'middle of this week' - with the £35m arrival of Joelinton set to be one of them.
While this may seem a little hard to believe for some (and I'd totally understand why given our inactivity so far this summer!), this does come from a reliable north-east writer in Martin Hardy.
He doesn't write often, but when he does he tends to be right, and here he claims that the club are planning to 'reverse a difficult summer' by completing a major spending spree this week.
Here's a snippet from his latest piece for OffThePitch.com:
'Newcastle United will look to reverse a difficult summer by launching perhaps the greatest spending spree in the club’s history.
'By the middle of this week it is thought the club will have bought two or three new players, including the Brazilian Joelinton for a club record fee that could rise to £35 million.'
With this in mind (and presuming it's even true!), could this explain why we've delayed the unveiling of Joelinton?
It has been suggested that we wanted to tie in the release of our new away kit with the official announcement of his signing, however these new claims make me wonder if we are planning a double or triple signing?
It's wishful thinking and a serious case of 'I'll believe when I see it', but with just 17 days left of the transfer window and several key signings still needing to arrive, it's about time we pulled our finger out!
