NUFC plan to announce the signing of Joelinton & TWO others in next 48 hours – Martin Hardy

According to Martin Hardy, Newcastle are expecting to announce the signing of ‘two or three new players‘ by the ‘middle of this week’ – with the £35m arrival of Joelinton set to be one of them.

While this may seem a little hard to believe for some (and I’d totally understand why given our inactivity so far this summer!), this does come from a reliable north-east writer in Martin Hardy.

He doesn’t write often, but when he does he tends to be right, and here he claims that the club are planning to ‘reverse a difficult summer’ by completing a major spending spree this week.

Here’s a snippet from his latest piece for OffThePitch.com:

‘Newcastle United will look to reverse a difficult summer by launching perhaps the greatest spending spree in the club’s history.

‘By the middle of this week it is thought the club will have bought two or three new players, including the Brazilian Joelinton for a club record fee that could rise to £35 million.’

With this in mind (and presuming it’s even true!), could this explain why we’ve delayed the unveiling of Joelinton?

It has been suggested that we wanted to tie in the release of our new away kit with the official announcement of his signing, however these new claims make me wonder if we are planning a double or triple signing?

It’s wishful thinking and a serious case of ‘I’ll believe when I see it’, but with just 17 days left of the transfer window and several key signings still needing to arrive, it’s about time we pulled our finger out!

  1. Hmmmmm triplets? Or maybe this 24/48 hours will just keep stretching until midnight on last day of window! But hay we did all we could to get Joelinton but his wage demands were astounding! I mean the cheek of him asking for more than £3.50 a month! There’s nah way we will spend 35+ million on one guy ! Plus two others ! If this happens I’ll shave me ball sack and drive 9 inch nails through em ! And it still won’t be as painful as this saga !

  2. I might believe it when I see non-free-agent players modelling their new Newcastle shirt – otherwise more bullshit and lies. If they say ” 2 or 3″ then you always expect the lower figure with this lot

  3. Abysmal summer, is the correct term. And as to these mythological signings…seeing is believing.

  4. It’s a shame none of these ‘reporters’ have any information from the club as they don’t answer requests to tell them what is going on

  5. Its pathetic to see an article repeat its self so many times. Did MA say put the fake news out so much.

Believe it when I see it and have lost all faith in journalists who cannot get the right facts.

  6. It will be 2 and it will be Joelinton & that young un for free from Chelsea – Kyle Scott I think.
It will coincide with the release of our 3rd strip as some big reveal for us all to be excited and happy … so don’t let them down – and rush out and buy that 3rd strip ??????

  8. Not bothered as it will make no difference with Steve in charge. He will most likely pardew Joelinton, if he does sign. It seems he wants a 3 year contract rather than a 5 year so he can get the hell out of Dodge when he is sick of fighting relegation. Also I bet he wants a relegation clause as well.

  11. ffs 1 of the signings will be Kyle Scott whose on a free from Chelsea & there’ll be a few more players sold to recoup the money Fatty’s “spending” well I won’t be fooled, even if we actually start winning games I’m not setting foot back in SJP till the FCB has gone or died !!! I’ll dare bet some idiots will be swayed by these “signings” & still go to games,he’s only spending coz he knows there’s still over 12,000 season tickets that haven’t been sold, don’t try & tell me that he still would have spent this money if 90% of season tickets had been sold ? #fatbastadoot
