Journalist claims transfer U-turn as NUFC star now looks set to stay at St James’ Park

According to the Telegraph’s Luke Edwards, Isaac Hayden now looks set to stay at Newcastle United this summer.

This comes after the midfielder handed in transfer requests both last summer and in January, with him making it quite clear to the club that he needed to leave in order to be closer to his fiancee and young daughter down south.

That said, it looks like he’ll be staying after all, despite the fact he seemed absolutely adamant about leaving just a few months ago.

It’s not yet been made clear whether he’s had another much-needed transfer blocked by the club or whether his personal circumstances have changed, allowing him to stay, but Luke Edwards’ latest update suggests he’ll be going nowhere this summer:

This feel like great news given how good he was at the back-end of last season, yet, at the same time, I don’t know how to take this.

If he’s staying because he wants to and feels able to then that’s excellent news, however if he still wants out due to family/personal issues but the club are blocking any move away, that would not sit well with me.

Let’s hope it’s the former and his situation both on and off the football field has been resolved, because he has proved as much as anyone over the past six months what a key player he can be for this club.
