NUFC linked with shock move for Juventus midfielder available for free – Dubious report

According to Italian outlet Tuttosport, Newcastle have shown interest in a deal to land Sami Khedhira – with Juventus planning to let the German veteran leave on a free this summer.

To say this one must be taken with a pinch of salt is an understatement – even if the midfielder has struggled for game time in Serie A over the past year.

Not only are big-spending Wolves also said to be keen and in poll position to sign him, it would be very unlike Mike Ashley to sanction a move for a 32-year-old who’s likely to also demand big wages.

The fact he could be allowed to leave on a free (despite the fact he’s under contract until 2021) may mean a deal appeals to the club, however this one must be filed in the dubious column as summer transfer links go.

Tuttosport claim Wolves are at the ‘front of the queue’ for the German international’s signature, but claim both ourselves and Monaco are also keen to secure a deal.

It would be quite a Mo Diame replacement, but I really can’t see this one happening – and would be surprised if we’d even shown interest given he’s now 32.
