Allan Saint-Maximin receives ‘serious’ interest from Premier League rivals – Report

According to Nice-Matin, Watford are also showing ‘serious’ interest in Newcastle United target Allan Saint-Maximin.

The french outlet reported our interest in the Nice winger at the back end of June, claiming we were in ‘advanced talks’, and they now suggest that it’s between ourselves and Watford in the race to sign the 22-year-old this summer.

They seem adamant that he’ll be playing in the Premier League next season and claim that both ourselves and Watford have already lodged unsuccessful bids for the Frenchman.

Here’s a snippet from their latest piece, claiming a ‘decisive bid’ that matches Nice’s £20m asking price looks set to arrive soon from one of the two clubs:

“The 22-year-old winger is expected to spend the rest of the season in England.

Newcastle and Watford are very serious about the forward, and after many unsuccessful attempts by both clubs, the decisive bid, evaluated around 22 million euros, should not be long in arriving at the offices of the Plaine du Var.

Watford’s interest in Saint-Maximin was reported by Sky Sports earlier this summer, however they claimed over the weekend that the Hornets were now closing in on the club record signing of Ismalia Sarr.

If this is still the case then we might just get a clear run at Saint-Maximin, but, no matter how few or how many clubs are in the running for him, he’ll only sign if we come to an agreement with Nice!
