Steve Bruce has praised the arrivals of Allan Saint-Maximin and Jetro Willems, with the club announcing the signing of both on a busy Friday night at St James’ Park.
Saint-Maximin has signed a SIX-year deal at the club following a £16.5m move from Nice, while Frankfurt left-back Jetro Willems arrives on a season-long loan (which also includes an option to buy next summer).
Here’s what ‘head coach’ Steve Bruce has had to say about both, starting with his reaction to Saint-Maximin’s arrival:
“I’m delighted to bring Allan to St. James’ Park. He is a very talented young player with a big future ahead of him.
“He has all the attributes you would want in an attacking player, including lightning pace, so I’m sure he’ll excite everybody.
“He is a great addition to Newcastle United and the Premier League.”
Bruce then had the following to say about the arrival of Dutch international Jetro Willems – a player who has been tipped to sign on Tyneside for several years now:
“Jetro brings a wealth of experience into the dressing room and I’m very pleased to have brought him here.
“He has played at the highest level and is naturally left-footed so he’ll give us another strong option on that side.”
The pair also look set to be included in the squad for our final pre-season friendly of the summer, with us due to take on St Etienne at St James’ Park at 3pm (Saturday).
Time will tell if they feature, but it’s a much needed boost for the club after a difficult summer up until this point.
