Amiens boss far from convincing when asked if Emil Krafth could sign for NUFC..

Amiens boss Luka Elsner has done little to play down Emil Krafth’s potential move to Newcastle, confirming that ‘things are going on behind the scenes’ and suggesting the club are prepared for his exit.

This comes after Sky Sports claimed that we’ve submitted a £5.5m bid for the Swedish international right-back, with the Chronicle also confirming that we had officials watching him in their pre-season friendly vs Hull last week.

To add fuel to the fire, Amiens have just recently completed the signing of former PSG and Lyon defender Christophe Jallet – and guess what, he’s a right-back.

Here’s what the Ligue 1 boss has had to say about Krafth when asked about our interest, confirming that things are going on ‘behind the scenes’ and doing little to deny his potential sale:

“Emil is a great professional,”

“There are no worries about him and his ability to handle events. For my part, I know there are things going on behind the scenes.

“Today, I’m on the field and what interests me are the players at my disposal.”

“We are a development club, which will inevitably have to deal with this kind of situation,”

“We will also bring in more talent, this is the reality of the club. The fact that players are being wooed is not a problem in itself.

“Going forward, solutions have been planned in case of departures and I think we are well equipped to face all possible events.”

It seems a little bizarre that they’d cash in on a player they’ve only just signed this summer following an impressive loan spell last season, however it looks like they could make a quick profit.

They signed the 24-year-old for £1.8m from Serie A side Bologna earlier this summer, but a bid of around £5.5m would see them make an immediate £3.5-£4m – something their manager seems quite happy to accept.

Time will tell if we submit an acceptable offer, but it certainly doesn’t sound like they’ll stand in his way.
