Nice winger Allan Saint-Maximin has been spotted on Tyneside this morning, with a pictures emerging on social media of him arriving at the club’s training ground.
A deal for the 22-year-old has been discussed for well over a week now, however a big breakthrough was finally reported yesterday, confirming that we’d agreed a £16.5m fee plus bonuses.
Sky Sports stated that we were ‘on the verge’ of sealing a deal and claimed that he’d arrive on Tyneside over the weekend to complete a medical – however it looks like he’s already in the north-east:
The Chronicle’s Mark Douglas has also had his day on the deal this morning, saying a move for the exciting winger is ‘virtually done’.
It feels very much like Joelinton and Saint-Maximin are Steve Nickson (head of recruitment) signings, but I’m sure Steve Bruce won’t be complaining, with Douglas stating above that the new ‘head coach’ is ‘very keen’ on the Nice winger.
Let’s hope he passes his medical!
