Saint-Maximin sends brilliant message to NUFC fans in must-read interview – Watch here

Allan Saint-Maximin has vowed to give 100% in the black and white shirt following his move to St James’ Park, with him speaking about everything from Ginola to Gucci headbands in his first big interview.

The former Nice trickster knows his pace and dribbling has the ability to ‘excite’ fans, but he hopes to also bring goals and assists – with him desperate to repay the faith the club have shown in him after completing his £16.5m move to the Premier League yesterday.

Here’s what he’s had to say during his wide ranging chat with NUFC TV, starting with his thoughts on the club’s previous French stars:

I’m very happy to be here. It’s what I want.

“Yes of course [I know of Ginola, Robert, HBA], I know they are great players.

“I want to do my thing. I want to do everything for the fans.”

Saint-Maximin on his best position:

“No. 10 is a good position for me but I can play in the middle, as a winger, I don’t care. I just want to play to show what I can do. “

“The No. 10 shirt is a great number. I want to have a great season, of course.”

Saint-Maximin on his famous Gucci headbands:

It’s simple, I have too much hair. It is a solution so I don’t have to cut my hair.

“I talk with Gucci and they made for me some things. White, black, I’m wearing them all the time.”

Saint-Maximin on St James’ Park and the Newcastle United fans:

“It’s amazing, it’s very, very big. I want to play here.

“The fans are important for me because my play is with some dribbling and I know a lot of fans love that. I want to do that, and score and do some assists.”

Saint-Maximin on his style of play and pre-season preparations:

“I know it is important to score and assist because if you want to win it’s not with some dribble.

“You have to score and make assists and run, it’s what I want to do.”

“My parents always told me, when people give everything to you, you have to give 20% more.

“I have had one month of pre-season, I have played three games and I have scored two goals. I feel good.”

Saint-Maximin on his upbringing:

“Speaking English is more easy for me. My mother is a teacher and I learn a bit with her. Now it’s good for me because I can speak and understand.

“My father, the same. [They are] really school, school, school. I always come with ball, ball, ball.”

Saint-Maximin on the prospect of playing vs Arsenal next Sunday:

“I want to play, I have a lot of friends there. Aubameyang I played with at St-Étienne. Guendouzi I’m with him with the Under-21s.

“They have a lot of great players. I love playing the big games, and in the Premier League it’s every week.”

Some great words from an exciting prospect and man who seems desperate to get out onto the pitch and showcase his talent.

We look forward to watching him in action against St Etienne at St James’ Park today.
