According to BBC reporter Andy Giddings, Sheffield Wednesday are now ‘in talks’ with Newcastle United over a loan deal for Jacob Murphy.
It was reported yesterday that the winger had received interest from the likes of Derby, Fulham, Huddersfield AND Sheffield Wednesday, but it’s claimed today that the Owls are leading the race.
The Sheffield Star’s Dom Howson also claims that the Owls are ‘hopeful’ of sealing a temporary deal for Murphy – who has struggled for game time following his £10m move from Norwich two years ago.
With Bruce needing to trim his squad to 25 over the coming days and him also having some bridges to build at Hillsborough after his sudden exit earlier this summer, this deal would make sense.
Aside from that, a season with a promotion chasing Championship side like Sheffield Wednesday could also do Murphy the world of good.
