According to North-East reporter Ian Murtagh, SIX Newcastle United players look set to be offloaded before the clock strikes 5pm on deadline day tomorrow.
He claims that Jacob Murphy, Jack Colback, Achraf Lazaar, Henri Saivet, Rob Elliot and Jamie Sterry are all expected to leave, having been told they’re unlikely to earn a place in Bruce’s 25-man squad ahead of the new 2019/20 season.
Ian Murtagh’s new transfer piece for the Daily Star claims Murphy has several loan offers from the Championship, suggests Lazaar and Saivet are likely to seal European loan moves and hints that Colback may seal a return to Nottingham Forest.
As for Elliot, it would not surprise me if he was released given his total lack of involvement of late, while Sterry seems likely to join a EFL side on loan – especially if a new right-back arrives in the next 24 hours or so.
On the subject of incomings, Murtagh does state that ‘sources in France’ have indicated that we are in talks with Bordeaux over a deal for Youssouf Sabaly – the Senegalese right-back who’s also been linked with Watford.
