According to Foot Mercato, Newcastle’s bid to sign PSG’s Stanley N’Soki is far from dead, with the club now preparing a new contract proposal for the highly-rated defender.
The 20-year-old talent has been linked with a move to St James’ Park for over two years now, and it was reported just 10 days ago that we’d agreed a £10m fee with PSG:
That said, a deal appeared to stall over personal terms, with some outlets claiming that we’d sent the Frenchman a ‘low-ball’ contract offer – despite him being keen to sign after we agreed a fee.
Now, Foot Mercato say their sources in France are telling them that a deal is NOT over, claiming that N’Soki looks set to receive a ‘new proposal’ from Newcastle United in the ‘coming hours’.
Considering N’Soki is predominantly a left-back, this one doesn’t quite add up now we’ve signed Jetro Willems, however it is worth noting that N’Soki is also comfortable at centre-back.
With that in mind, I wonder if this is a deal we would be happy to complete should we cash in on Ciaran Clark – who’s said to be Bristol City’s top centre-back target after they sold Adam Webster to Brighton for £22m.
One to watch?
