Kenedy set for shock loan move after signing 3-year deal at Chelsea – This says it all..

12 months ago, Newcastle were quoted £30m for Chelsea’s Kenedy.

Today, the Brazilian looks set to join Reading on a season long loan – a club which finished 20th in the Championship last season.

A move to the second tier side looks set to come after a 3-year extension was agreed with Chelsea, but to say the 23-year-old’s career has gone backwards over the past year is an understatement.

This time last summer we were desperate to sign him on a permanent deal but were quoted £30m by Chelsea. A loan deal was agreed but his performances that followed over the coming season were appalling – and that’s putting it mildly.

He’s since return to Stamford Bridge and has been involved in Frank Lampard’s pre-season plans, however he’s failed to impress and looks set for yet another loan deal.

This time, however, he won’t be returning to the Premier League and will instead spend the 2019/20 with Reading – the London-based club that finished just 7 points above the relegation zone in the Championship last season.

Hopefully he has a great season and reignites his career with the Royals, although it’s fair to say there’s little hope for him in England if he can’t stand out in their side.

  1. Genuinely believe he has talent but something not right in his head. You could see his body language last season, think some club shrink should take a look at him. Think he needs help to become good again.

  2. I think Reading would not normally be described as a London-based club. Unless Newcastle is a Sunderland-based club?
