Journalist reveals clubs interested in NUFC trio – but one big issue could scupper each deal

Lee Ryder has confirmed that Rolando Aarons, Jack Colback and Achraf Lazaar have all attracted interest and could seal moves away in the next week – but their wage demands are proving to be problematic.

The trio all missed out on Steve Bruce’s 25-man squad earlier this month, but they are still able to complete moves abroad (or to lower league sides), with the transfer window still open in several European countries.

The Chronicle claim that Steve Bruce is pushing to move all three on – along with Henri Saivet and Jamie Sterry – with all five said to take a combined £125,000 in wages per week, however it seems wage demands are proving to be an issue.

Here’s what Lee Ryder’s had to say when asked about moves away for Aarons, Lazaar and Colback during a new Q&A:

“Yes there are interested clubs, but their wage demands are putting some teams off.

“Panathinaikos wanted Aarons but his wages are Premier League standard while clubs in Italy have looked at Lazaar.

“Colback has admirers in Scotland and League One but, again, the money is a big issue.”

All three are training on Tyneside, meaning they’ve not been totally excluded, but it does seem like their career’s at Newcastle are all but over.

Colback is said to earn £45,000 per week at Newcastle, so I can’t help but feel he’ll price himself out of a move and sit out the final year of his contract on Tyneside.

Aarons looked likely to join Wigan or Sheffield Wednesday at one stage, but, again, it would not surprise me if wage demands denied him a move for some much needed game time.

As for Lazaar, he seems to have a few admirers in Italy, so another loan move for him could well be on the cards.
