After just two La Liga starts for new club Alaves, ex-NUFC striker Joselu has already scored twice – and his latest strike is one of the most wacky goals of the weekend.
You couldn’t make it up really. Just as we are struggling for goals, having scored 3 goals in our opening 4 games this season, a former ‘flop’ who often couldn’t hit a barn door has bagged in each of his first two starts in Spain’s top flight.
Here’s his latest goal for Alaves (see it 36 seconds in), which finally comes after an amusing and incredibly messy scramble in the box:
Joselu then went on to be named Man of the Match, with WhoScored.com also giving him an impressive match rating of 7.7 following Alaves’ 1-1 draw at Getafe – a result that leaves them 7th in La Liga after one win and two draws.
Good luck to Joselu. He was never a natural finisher and didn’t look up to it at Premier League level, but it’s good to see him back scoring again in Spain – even if it’s all ridiculously ironic.
