According to the Shields Gazette, Dwight Gayle is back on West Brom’s radar ahead of the January transfer window – but Newcastle will demand ‘£15-£20m’.
Bilic has recently confirmed his wish to sign another striker in the new year, and it’s reported that the 28-year-old is on the Baggies’ ‘transfer shortlist’ once again following his successful spell at the Hawthorns last season.
Gayle’s 24 goals helped them reach the Championship play-off’s earlier this year, however he’s yet to feature this season under Steve Bruce, missing our entire pre-season programme and still nowhere to be seen after struggling to recover from a calf injury.
That said, it sounds like West Brom are still eager to sign him – although our alleged asking price of “£15-£20m” could be an issue given he’s had concerning injury issues and turns 29 next month.
Bruce has spoken highly of him and has even claimed he’s a player he tried to sign in the past – suggesting he has no plans to let him leave – but could we really say no if a big offer arrived in January?
