According to Sky Sports reporter Gianluca Di Marzio, former Newcastle United flop Emmanuel Riviere is set to sign for Serie B side Cosenza.
This will see the Frenchman link up with current Newcastle United reject Achraf Lazaar, who completed a loan move to the second tier Italian side earlier this month.
Rivierie – who is currently a free agent – was tipped to join Championship side Brentford last month, but it looks like he’s set for a spell in Italy instead according to Sky Italy’s Gianluca Di Marzio:
Despite arriving from Monaco for £6m in 2014, the 29-year-old was desperately poor during a nightmare spell at St James’ Park. He scored just 3 goals in 31 appearances on Tyneside and, sadly for him, he hasn’t got much better since then.
He failed to score in 17 appearances during a loan with Osasuna over the 2016/17 season and his record in front of goal didn’t get much better following a move to Metz two years ago.
He scored 5 goals in 28 Ligue 1 appearances for the French side in 2017/18, followed by just 2 goals in 15 Ligue 2 appearances last season – a tally which saw him get released earlier this summer.
