Newcastle want to sign RB Leipzig star in January after ‘long-standing’ interest – Report

According to the the Express, Newcastle are interested in signing RB Leipzig striker Yussuf Poulsen in January.

Neil Fissler’s piece states that Everton also hold interest in the Danish international, but believes the Toffees could face competition from Newcastle in the new year.

The 6ft 4′ forward bagged an impressive 19 goals and 8 assists in all competitions last season – the 25-year-old’s best return yet in his third full season in the Bundesliga.

It’s also worth noting that Newcastle scouts were spotted at RB Leipzig’s Champions League clash with Benfica last week:

The player club officials were sent out to watch in Portugal last week hasn’t been made clear, but this link with Poulsen suggests it may just have been him – especially when we’re in desperate need for attacking flare.

Poulsen has managed just 1 goal so far this season but has weighed in with an impressive 6 assists.
