NUFC given the green light to make January move for ‘top target’ – Report

According to reports in Spain, Newcastle will have the chance to sign January target Rony Lopes when the transfer window reopens this winter.

Both the Chronicle and the Northern Echo credited us with serious interest in the Portuguese winger over the past few weeks, and GOL Digital now report that he’ll be free to leave the La Liga club in the new year.

This comes as a slight surprise given he only completed a £18m move from Monaco to Sevilla this summer, however he’s struggled to break into Julen Lopetegui’s side and will be allowed to leave in January as a result according to new reports in Spain today.

The 23-year-old has only appeared twice for Sevilla so far this season, failing to start a single game and featuring for a grand total of 43 minutes via late cameos from the bench.

That said, the versatile attacker – who was previously on Man City’s books as a youngster – is a Portuguese international who burst onto the scene the season before last after bagging  17 goals and 12 assists for Monaco during their 2017/18 campaign.

Time will tell if these new claims from Spain prove to be correct, but his game time so far does suggest Sevilla are having second thoughts and may be happy to cash in this winter if they get their £18m back.
