The NUFC side that looks likely to start vs Leicester after Bruce’s latest injury update

It’s going to be an interesting team selection at the King Power stadium today.

While this week has seen Jonjo Shelvey ruled out for the next couple of weeks (which is something some people think is a positive), we have also seen long term absentees Florian Lejeune and DeAndre Yedlin return to full training.

Allan Saint Maximin resumed training on Wednesday after coming off the pitch last weekend holding his hamstring, while Andy Carroll and Sean Longstaff are also fit.

The game comes too soon for Matt Ritchie – who could return next weekend – but the squad is starting to look stronger as players return from injury.

As a result, could this be the side that starts at Leicester today?

(5-2-2-1): Dubravka – Manquillo, Schar, Lascelles, Dummett, Willems – Hayden, Longstaff – Almiron, Joelinton, Atsu.

The main positions of interest are right wing back, central midfield and who plays in the front three.

One must assume it’s too early for Yedlin, so it’s between Krafth and Manquillo. Central midfield will probably see Longstaff resume his partnership with Hayden, despite the team looking better when Ki replaced Shelvey against Brighton.

Up front is the big question. There has been talk of Almiron being dropped, but Bruce seemed to play that down on Friday, suggesting he’ll start. I personally don’t agree with dropping him.

Then you have Saint Maximin. He made us look a different team when he came on against Brighton, but is he fit enough to start? I’m not sure.

I’d personally start Saint-Maximin but Bruce may be reluctant to risk him. I’m betting on Atsu to start with Almiron and Joelinton again.

How do you see us lining up today?
