Ex-NUFC flops can’t stop scoring in France & Spain with 7 goals in 11 games – The irony..

To say Islam Slimani and Joselu failed to impress Newcastle fans during their stints at St James’ Park would be an understatement.

The pair bagged a combined 7 goals in 56 games in a black and white shirt, however they’ve already matched that tally in just a handful of games for their new clubs this season.

Starting with Joselu – who left for Spain over the summer – he’s scored 3 goals in 6 games so far, and was named in the La Liga ‘Team of the Week’ after bagging in their 2-0 win over Mallorca at the weekend.

I’m not suggesting for a second that we should’ve kept the Spaniard, but the irony of him scoring just one goal less than our entire team so far this season isn’t lost on me.

Then to Islam Slimani. His time at Newcastle was blighted by injury and ill-discipline, but he’s been on fire in France following a summer move to Monaco.

The Algerian has bagged a stunning 4 goals and 4 assists in just 5 appearances for the Ligue 1 side, with him now playing alongside Cesc Fabregas, Wissam Ben Yedder, Gelson Martins and Aleksandr Golovin in the South of France.

Meanwhile, Steve Bruce’s Newcastle United have scored 4 goals in 7 games so far this season. It’s funny how things work out..
