According to a new transfer ‘exclusive’ from the Chronicle, Newcastle are scouting Lille striker Victor Osimhen – and they’ve been left impressed.
The same piece also reveals Steve Bruce’s plans to bring in a central midfielder AND a winger in January, with Lee Ryder claiming the 58-year-old ‘will have money available to spend’ in the new year.
Back to Osimhen, the Nigerian international has been one of the star performers in France so far this season.
The 6t 1′ forward has bagged 7 goals and 2 assists in 10 Ligue appearances this term, also scoring against Chelsea in the Champions League earlier this month.
That said, he is just 20, with him only recently completing a £10.8m move to Lille from RSC Charleroi – the Belgian side he bagged 20 goals for last season.
A central midfield and winger may be needed to give us increased options going forward, but I have my doubts about a move for yet another young striker who would be under pressure to deliver in a totally new league.
