New Premier League relegation odds released – Ominous signs for 3 as NUFC turn corner?

After Saturday’s win at West Ham, Newcastle United are no longer one of the three favourites to go down this season.

According to the country’s leading bookmakers, Norwich are the favourites to drop down into the Championship, with Watford and Southampton also deemed more likely to be relegated than Newcastle come May next year.

Here’s the current odds (Bet365) via Oddschecker:

  • Norwich – 4/9
  • Watford – 8/11
  • Southampton – 15/8
  • Newcastle – 2/1
  • Aston Villa – 9/4
  • Burnley – 11/4
  • Sheffield United – 11/2
  • Brighton – 11/2
  • Crystal Palace – 7/1
  • West Ham – 9/1

Considering we were the bookies favourites to go down just a few weeks ago, this highlights just how we’ve steadied the ship over the past month, with us picking up two wins, a draw and one defeat in our last four.

Several of our recent performances have been unconvincing, with us often lacking any form of goal threat before Saturday’s 3-2 win over West Ham, but our upturn in form has coincided with some awful results and performances for Norwich, Watford and Southampton.

The trio – who currently sit in the bottom three – have all failed to win a single game in their last 6, losing a combined 13 times in that period.

It’s a key period for us, with us facing just one top 6 side in our next 7 games, but if we can pick up points while the bottom three continue to stutter, we can start to seriously pull away from that dreaded drop zone.

There’s a long way to go, however we’ll be hoping Saturday’s result and performance was a turning point ahead of a generous run of fixtures that now await.
