NUFC interested in January move for in-form striker available for £7m – Report

According to The Express, Newcastle United have shown interest in Metz striker Habib Diallo ahead of the January transfer window.

The Senegalese international has bagged 7 goals in 11 games so far this season – making him the second top scorer in Ligue 1 – and Neil Fissler’s piece claims NUFC scouts have been impressed with what they’ve seen.

Diallo, 24, is also attracting interest from Leicester City according to the report, which states he could be available for just £7m in January (although I find that hard to believe).

The 6ft 1′ striker bagged an impressive 26 goals and 7 assists in Ligue 2 last season to guide Metz back to the French top flight, and his goalscoring form this season has not dwindled despite the step up.

He’s scored 8 of Metz’s 12 goals this season, doing incredibly well to lift himself towards the top of Ligue 1’s scoring charts considering his struggling club currently sit 19th in the table.

His rate of goals over the past 18 months suggests he has something about him, but it would be risky business in our position to bring in another unproven talent and expect them to immediately deliver.

Here’s him in action:
