With the transfer window just around the corner, it is decision time for Newcastle manager, Steve Bruce. They need new players that will help the team the remainder of the season. Bruce is open to new signings having held talks with the club, and despite spending £75m on Miguel Almiron, Allan Saint-Maximin and Joelinton since January, the Magpies will still look for new signings this coming transfer window.
They will be looking for that extra help to get them out of the relegation zone, but with no certainty on how many funds they have or if they can attract key players, it is going to be a complicated transfer window for Newcastle. Betting sites, such as Comeon Betting predict Newcastle won’t be relegated, but in order to make this come true, essential signing will need to happen.
However, these are three players the club should target heavily in order to improve.
Granit Xhaka
The Swiss player was recently stripped of his captaincy due to a confrontation with fans from the London club, Arsenal, against Crystal Palace. Since this incident, he has not played again. This suggests the Swiss captain is up for grabs.
Bruce has hopes that fellow countryman, Fabian Schar, could be the key to bringing Xhaka to St. James Park. The two players are close friends and would work well managing the midfield for the Magpies, while also giving an extra scoring threat.
While the club is looking to sign Xhaka on loan, they would still have to pay a substantial amount of his wages. He is also keeping his options open, as his talents are sought after.
Mbwana Samatta
Samatta, who was questioned at the airport while playing for his home country, Tanzania, claims to not know of the interest from the club. However, bringing the African striker to St. James Park would definitely add a great goal threat to the squad. He has scored 6 goals this season playing for Ghent, adding to his 32 from last year.
There is interest from other Premier League sides, such as West Ham, and the 26-year-old comes with a £10m release clause. Getting Samatta’s talents to the city of Newcastle might prove difficult, but he would be a welcomed addition.
Alex Kral
Reports have come to life saying that the NUFC scouts were scouting the 21-year-old Czech talent in Spartak Moscow’s win over Lokomotiv Moscow, where the gained a comfortable 3 points with a 3-0 victory.
Newcastle United are not the only Premier League squad interested, as the youngster played very well for him home country against England last month. Despite having only signed to Spartak this summer for €11m.
Summing Up
There are many more players who have been rumoured to be linked to Newcastle United, but these three players would help the club the most. Bringing in attacking options in Xhaka and Samatta alongside defensive midfielders such as Kral can be what the team needs.
