Steve Bruce handed much needed boost ahead of Saturday’s clash with Man City

Steve Bruce has been handed a boost ahead of Man City’s visit to St James’ Park this weekend, with the the champions set to be without star striker Sergio Aguero.

The Argentine suffered a muscle injury in the 2-1 win against Chelsea over the weekend and City boss Pep Guardiola has since confirmed he’ll miss Saturday’s game.

We need all the help we can get if last night’s woeful display at Villa Park is anything to go by, but it seems we’ve got some here.

Aguero has terrorised us since his arrival at City – scoring 11 goals in 13 meetings with the Magpies – which is more than any other side he’s faced in his 8 seasons in England.

He’s been in good form this season, with 9 league goals already, leaving Pep Guardiola sweating ahead of the busy festive break.

Man City will still be extremely dangerous, with capable Brazilian Gabriel Jesus likely to step in, but the absence of Aguero will be a real boost for us as we look to continue climbing up the table.

Here’s to hoping we can get a repeat of that famous 2-1 win that we had last season.
