Report reveals who NUFC scouts will be watching at QPR vs Nottingham Forest tonight

Newcastle scouts will be watching Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall in action tonight according to the Mirror.

The centre-back has been one of Forest’s standout players so far this season and was linked with a potential January move to Tyneside in October, with The Sun claiming Bruce was a ‘big admirer’ of the 22-year-old.

A few months on, The Mirror now claim that both ourselves and Everton have been watching him closely, with scouts from both clubs expected to be in the stands ahead of their trip to QPR tonight.

As 22, Worrall certainly fits the Mike Ashley buying model, however it would make little to no sense for us to sign another central defender in the new year.

Not only that, are Forest – who could go 4th with a win tonight – really going to sell their captain midway through a season which sees them pushing for promotion back to the Premier League?

We have a few centre-backs who are getting on (Only one is under the age of 27) or are edging closer to being out of contract (Fernandez), but I don’t see us signing him in the new year.

That said, I didn’t see us replacing Benitez with Bruce or spending £40m on a relatively unknown Brazilian, so what do I know!
