The brilliant moment Sean Longstaff made a young NUFC fan’s day vs Southampton

Sean Longstaff made a Newcastle United ball boy’s day with the simplest of gestures yesterday.

Whilst he was warming up, the Toon midfielder gave his gloves to the lucky lad, who happens to be a member of the outstanding Newcastle United Foundation

Jacqueline Critchley – the head of the foundation – posted this photo on her Twitter account yesterday, revealing how it ‘meant the world’ to the young fan who had been going through ‘the toughest of times recently’:

I doubt this will come as any surprise to anyone considering the high regard Sean, and indeed his whole are held in at the club the north east area. He’s a class act. On and off the pitch.

He made a telling contribution when he came off the bench yesterday, as it was his long range effort that lead to Fede Fernandez’s late winner, after Saints keeper Angus Gunn could only parry.

Despite him not quite scaling last season’s heights, the boy is a beacon of hope, and Manchester United can keep their grubby mitts off him.
