Toon For Change ask NUFC fans to claim free half-season ticket & leave seat empty in protest

*Toon For Change statement ahead of Newcastle United half-season tickets going ‘on sale’ at 10am this morning*

“With season ticket holders having faced a 25% price hike in the summer, Mike Ashley’s latest stunt, to give away free half-season tickets is another kick in the teeth for our fanbase.

“Last summer, thousands of supporters vowed to no longer attend matches at St James’ Park as a mark of protest against Ashley. For the majority who chose not to renew season tickets, this was an emotional decision as opposed to a financial one.

“Across the last decade years, thousands more fans have vowed to no longer hand their hard-earned money over to Ashley.”

“Some supporters have chosen to renew season tickets annually despite Ashley’s disastrous tenure at the club and these fans’ loyalty is being repaid by the club dishing out half-season tickets free of charge.

“We encourage season ticket holders to claim their free half season ticket and leave the seat empty. Every empty seat at SJP sends a message to the footballing world: it’s time for Ashley to sell our football club.”

  2. Pretty petty and spiteful to those who would appreciate going.
Someone tried this morning got the seat into the order and it wouldn’t go no further.
Said they weren’t entitled to a ticket?
Now for the person who that ticket was intended for has gone to waste.
It could of massively helped the supporter it was intended for…
I had a bit of faith restored in the club from this stunt only to be disappointed again.

But claiming a ticket and leaving it empty is pathetic.
Many people who aren’t as fortunate would sit in that seat.

Anyone who has claimed the seat and intends to leave it empty are as low as the FCB in my opinion.
