NUFC have ‘agreed’ €11m deal – & official move could be announced in January – Report

According to the Northern Echo, Newcastle have already agreed a €11m deal with Frankfurt for Jetro Willems.

This comes from Scott Wilson – the Northern Echo’s Chief Sports Writer – who also claims that the his permanent move to St James’ Park could go through in January, suggesting the club are keen to trigger their option to sign him ASAP.

Here’s a snippet from his latest piece, revealing the €11m (£9.3m) deal the club already have lined up for the Dutchman:

“An €11m fee has already been agreed for Jetro Willems as part of the loan deal that took the full-back from Eintracht Frankfurt.

Newcastle could opt to trigger the clause next month rather than wait until the end of the season.”

Despite him regularly being linked with a move to Tyneside during his time at PSV, the 25-year-old’s arrival on loan from Germany came out of the blue.

Since then there’s been no looking back. Yes he’s benefited from Matt Ritchie being out injured since August, but he’s made that left wing-back slot his own, putting in accomplished displays at both ends of the pitch.

It was initially reported that we’d bide our time and consider a permanent deal at the end of the season, but with a bargain fee agreed and him continuing to shine, it may be wise to snap him up next month before any other clubs come sniffing.

After all, I don’t think we’d find better in today’s market for little over £9m!
