According to reports in France, Newcastle are one of several clubs tracking Watford defender Christian Kabasele.
This comes from LeSport10 – the same outlet who’ve linked us with moves for Angers defender Prince Gouano and Villarreal striker Karl Toko-Ekambi in the past week.
The Belgian international is about to enter the final year of his contract with Watford, however this seems like the latest January transfer rumour to take with a pinch of salt.
Not only is he a centre-back – the one area we couldn’t be better stocked in – he’s also due to turn 29 next month, meaning he hardly fits Mike Ashley’s tedious transfer policy.
He’s played 16 times for Watford this season and played the full 90 in Watford’s 1-1 draw at St James’ Park back in August.
Watford may be looking to cash in on him in the coming year if he fails to sign a new contract, but I struggle to believe we hold an interest in anyone about to turn 29 – never mind another centre-back.
